Junior Year 1964       When "THANK YOU" is not enough!

A little after 03:00 A.M. on Friday August 16, 1996, God chose to take our precious Linda from our home to her new home; thus giving her a complete victory over the cancer she had battled with a smile for about a year. Praise GOD ! With "NO" pain, little medication, and enough love for three eternities, Linda's final moments on this earth, were as gentle as a baby's sleep.

Although our eyes are clouded by tears, our hearts are radiant with joy. We continue to praise the Lord, for allowing us to be a part of Linda's testament to what Love and Life should be. She loved people and life, but her only concerns about dying were for those she would leave behind.

As part of Linda's family, we have witnessed a blessing that has the magnitude of a Miracle ! It must be shared, rather than just saying "THANK YOU" !

It was about a year ago, after a visit with Dr. James Caskey, that Linda began her battle with cancer. What followed was countless treatments by Doctors-- Karen Brooks, V. E. Brooks, William Shelton, Sidney Roberts, Kavitha Pinnamaneni, M. Ahmad, William Strinden, and consultations with roughly twenty Doctors at M. D. Anderson Hosp. in Houston. I wish there was a way to tell the story of the professional excellence of these people and their staffs, that was delivered with a love, care, compassion and concern that cannot be surpassed in this world ! She loved you, each and all, and tried to maintain her smile as proof.

We feel very secure in telling anyone we encounter, that there are "NO" nurses on the Second Floor of Memorial Hospital, or it's x-ray dept.; or at Hospice in the Pines, these people are truly "Angels" in disguise. Anyone that is blind to that fact, needs to spend some quality time on their knees with the Lord. Your eyes and hearts need to be opened. Even in her darkest hours, Linda was concerned that she might have been cross with someone helping her. She loved you.

To Rev. Elton Musick, Rev. Newton Hambrick, Rev. Kenneth King and Church and prayer groups not only in this area, but in California, Colorado and Arkansas; we felt your presence in our despair. Do not break the Faith-- Praise the Lord our God. Though our grief seems unbearable at times, the void in our hearts is nurtured by the fact that we "KNOW" that Linda has just gone ahead and is now patiently awaiting us. Our prayers were quite simply that Linda pass from this life to Eternity without the pain and suffering that sometimes goes with her illness. Therefore we praise the Lord, that Prayer was answered, and it stands as testimony to the true Nature of the Love of God.

To Linda's extended family at Compass Bank that included Officers, crew, and customers alike and those at Champion International, without you, life would have seemed very meaningless. She loved you, and to you a very private note. She was always "my Angel" and in Her words, "when you get there, look for the one with the wide-wing-span."

Speaking as Family, Linda's life spoke for itself, so saying "THANK YOU" is not nearly enough ---all we can say is that She loved you and "WE LOVE YOU".

TAKE NOTE:

On Feb. 12, 1996, about half way through Linda's battle with cancer, BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD OF TEXAS AND BLUE CROSS BLUE CHOICE PRESCRIPTION card CANCELED her coverage. Premium coverage was drafted, then refused and returned because she was disabled. Stated Simply---the Insurance was only good, if you are not too sick to work. Nuff said.
