Fact Sheet
22nd Annual SHOT SHOW®
Sands Expo & Convention Center
Las Vegas, Nevada, January 17-20, 2000             Harrah's

The Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show is the world's premier exposition of firearms, ammunition, archery, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, camping and related products and services.
Las Vegas is the most popular location for the SHOT SHOW, according to exhibitor and dealer polls. The city has been host to five previous Shows (1988, '90, '95, '97 and '98). The '97 show established a new attendance record of 35,102.
A total of 465,600 square feet of exhibit space is reserved for the SHOT SHOW 2000 by 1,420 exhibiting companies (as of Jan. 3, 2000). This surpasses the square footage of last year's Atlanta show and makes this the largest SHOT SHOW ever.
An estimated 17,000 buyers (including 1,900 overseas buyers from 85 countries) will attend the 2000 SHOT SHOW.
The SHOT SHOW ranks as the 35th largest trade exposition in the country.
The SHOT SHOW is owned and sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and is managed by Association Expositions and Services, a division of Reed Exhibitions Companies.
SHOT SHOW proceeds provide significant financial support for the U.S. Shooting Team, Hunter Education Association, Wildlife Management Institute, "Becoming An Outdoors-Woman" project, 4-H Shooting Sports Program, U.S. Biathlon Association, Women's Shooting Sports Foundation, Collegiate Clay Target Shooting Championship, National Bowhunter Education Fund, Cody Firearms Museum, Shooting Sports Summit and scores of smaller state and local professional, sporting and conservation organizations.

2000 SHOT SHOW FEATURES

Exhibit Segmentation--To help buyers focus on the products they are most interested in, SHOT SHOW exhibits are grouped in the following categories: Firearms and Ammunition, Outdoor Wear, General Shooting and Hunting, Archery, and, new this year, Law Enforcement. The official Show Directory and Buyer's Guide, along with strategically placed location maps throughout the convention center, reflect this segmentation.
New Product Center--This section showcases those new products introduced by manufacturers in the past 12 months.
Seminar Program--These professional development and information seminars are available free to dealers attending the Show. On tap this year is the always-popular session with representatives of the Bureau of Alcohol and Tobacco and the FBI who will answer retailers' questions about federal laws and regulations. Other seminar topics include insurance/risk management, the "Great American Gun Shop," and hands-on marketing.
Members' Privileges--Special credentials and free use of "Members Only" lounge are available to all members of the National Shooting Sports Foundation.
SHOT SHOW Auction -- All attendees have the opportunity to view and bid on a special Mato Extra Deluxe rifle in 7mm Remington Magnum that has been created by Beretta and carries the unique serial number "M02000" in honor of the new millennium. The design is based on one of Beretta President Ugo Gussalli Beretta's favorite rifles in his collection. Proceeds benefit NSSF's educational programs for schools.
SHOT SHOW Raffle -- A Bear Archery take-down, compound bow and a Chuck Stapel-designed collector's knife are the prizes. The bow is a Fred Bear Borsalino, high-tech 307 fps-rated model that folds in half for easy packing and comes in the Advantage Timber camo pattern. Proceeds benefit NSSF's educational programs for schools.
The knife, made by custom knifemaker Stapel, is another in the "Un-endangered Species" theme and honors the Canada Goose. The knife is made from Damascus steel with a 9 ¼" blade and a handle of walrus ivory. The blade carries an engraving of a goose by Kenny Majors of Hat Brand Engraving. The handle features the scrimshaw work of Jack Wein. Canada Goose populations were as low as 1.1 million in the late 1940's, but hunter-supported conservation efforts have improved habitat and helped populations rebound to nearly 4 million today.
